I am currently working on a number of projects that include: community development and support models, personal publishing tools, social software, MUVEs (such as Second Life) and virtual library spaces. I provide consultancy both within/out the university specialising in the support of distributed/distance learners. My research interests are focussed around questions of identity in online learning, social presence, social networking and the changing notion of community. I am a Fellow of the newly formed Centre for Distance Education at the University of London.
