Iann Schonken, evangelist and founder of Schonken Evangelistic Association, was born and raised in South Africa.
In 1988, Iann came to the United States to complete his college education. During this time, he served as an associate pastor in Ridgecrest, CA. After receiving his Master's degree in Religion (Church Leadership), he went on to assist friends, Tim Storey (Tim Storey Ministries), Benny Perez (Pacesetters International), Dale Gentry (Dale Gentry Ministry) and Jerry Gaffney (Jerry Gaffney Ministries) in over a decade of ministry, administration, traveling, speaking and consultation.
In 1996 specifically, Iann struck out on his own with a vision for global ministry and the desire to see multitudes of Christians trained to become leaders and Kingdom catalysts in their countries and communities for the glory of God.
Evangelistic crusades in Brazil, Mozambique, Madagascar, Tanzania, South Africa, Israel, India, and the Philippines have resulted in tens of thousands of decisions to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and hundreds of Christian pastors and leaders have been trained in leadership seminars within their own cultural context.
Most recently, Iann has been directing his focus toward the churches here in the United States. The American church is in need of edification, encouragement, and education in the things of God and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Iann ministers the Word with great boldness and compassion, with signs and wonders following. His desire to see people saved, healed, delivered and empowered is evident in renewal services that take people beyond their comfort zones into God's calling for their lives. Iann believes that prayer is very important to bring revival and sustain the Christian lifestyle. He is excited about what God is doing in these last days.
Iann served as Pastor of Leadership at The Church at South Las Vegas from 2002 to 2006. Recently, he co-authored myPrayerPartner: A Systematic Approach to Prayer, and created The School of Prayer with his brother, Dr. Johann Schonken. Iann is working on a new book project and a leadership development program that will launch in Israel in late 2006.
In March 2006, he joined the staff of Family Fellowship Church in Oceanside, CA as associate pastor. Iann was installed as senior pastor in October 2006, and he currently serves in that capacity.
