IRON 59
Thanks for coming.
I am Fe59 (Iron=Fe, 59=LIX, Fe59=
FELIX!) ; my name is pronounced "fee..li..ks
baast" (friends call me "Flex I",
the
anagram!). I am from an exquisite countryside town by the pacific
coast called Usa, in North pacific archipelago Isle called Shikoku. I am now twenty six years old, no spousal units, no child but
One yard cat (Estrelinha). I live in a world of deep blue ocean, books
and movies, music and art, clumsiness and ineptitude. I don't really
belong anywhere. My job experiences have been disastrous. I've never
worked anywhere I could figure out how it stayed in research until I go
there or how it remained in research after I left. That's just the way
my mind works.
I have sincere difficulties communicating with people. I don't speak the
proper shorthand in many cases. And they don't speak English. It's
not that they speak another language. English is supposedly their
tongue. But that tongue is tied. I found the experiences related in the
Hitchhiker's books to be very much like my life. I've never really known
what was going on. I've had, at times, to pretend that I did, but I
never did a very convincing job.
I know what has happened and is happening and I am glad that there
is a name for it besides:
stupid
lazy
bad
out-of-it
odd
emotionally unstable
crazy
My real name is FB. I use my initials
because they're short and don't suffer from a
banana
problem. Despite a certain happy coincidence, I was using my
initials long before I ever heard of the Standard Template Library.
I was born in Kerala, India. I received my degree of Master Of
Science With "Outstanding" grade in Biotechnology from the
University of Madras in 2002.
I am a MEXT International Doctoral Scholar, nominated by embassy
and supported by the Japanese government. I am working on Marine
Phytoplankton Ecology.
My profession happens to be that of a Marine Biology Researcher,
but that's not who I really am. I'm a popular science writer , and this
page is a record of what I've written.
Also, I like cats.
How To Contact Me
E-mail me and I will reply within a day or two. (No, really!
For quite some time, I had a backlog of E-mail that was up to two years
old, but I finally got around to taking care of it.)
I don't use instant messaging, as it is inherently
interruptive and synchronous, although not as much as the telephone.
E-mail allows me to put an arbitrary amount of thought into composing my
replies.
