Since 2001, Ms. Cheryl D. Polk has served in numerous leadership roles for the United Way of Greater St. Louis. Bringing over 25 years of professional experience to her role, Cheryl Polk currently serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer. Cheryl Polk formerly took a leading role as Major Gifts Officer for the Charmaine Chapman Society, the Women’s Leadership Giving Initiative, and the Alexis de Tocqueville Society. A member of the Senior Management Team, Cheryl Polk also holds a position as Corporate Secretary of the Board. Cheryl Polk’s diverse and unique background in charity work first began with her role as Manager of Marketing, Public Relations, and Corporate Affairs at INROADS/St. Louis, Inc. Cheryl Polk’s talent in all areas of management led to her promotion to Operations Manager. Cheryl Polk’s efforts to institute forecasting strategies within the marketing plan resulted in a 25% market increase. Since commencing her position with INROADS, Cheryl Polk’s impact on the community has led to multiple community leaders and corporate executives seeking out her professional expertise. To this end, Cheryl Polk was next recruited into role with Provident Counseling, Inc., where she was promoted to Vice President of New Business Development & Marketing within the first year she joined. Cheryl Polk’s savvy management of the department’s $7.2 million budget, combined with her expertise in developing business growth strategies, led to her setting a financial development record in 1997. After two years with Provident Counseling, Cheryl Polk was offered a position with the Missouri-Illinois Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross. Cheryl Polk’s significance in the organization as Director of Donor Services has been widely felt with a $6.2 million increase in revenues. Widely known for her strength in marketing initiatives, Cheryl Polk brought the Region’s collections from a rank of 10th in the area to 2nd, setting 11 all-time Region collection records. Cheryl Polk is the possessor of two academic degrees: a Master of Administration from Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Creighton University. Cheryl Polk also graduated from Cornell University’s Executive Leadership Program.
