Brent Beckley

Toronto, Ontario

Brent Beckley likes to give back to his community. He attended a weeklong leadership program to learn how to improve the college experience for fraternity members and undergrads at the University of Montana. At the Volunteer Live It! Leadership Program in Denver, Colorado, Beckley participated in strategic planning workshops, goal-setting programs and worked on developing mission statements. The weeklong leadership workshop took place in 2001, and would only be the first of many leadership programs attended by Mr. Beckley. Beckley spent another week of his time at the 65th Annual International Leadership School, and this time the event took place at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Here, Brent learned about improving communication skills, personal goal-setting and how to offer advice to undergrad students. Brent offered his weekends from September of 2005 to April of 2006 to volunteer at the Salvation Army Food Kitchen in Vancouver, British Colombia. Prior to serving the Salvation Army, Brent was a volunteer Youth Soccer coach for the YMCA. Beckley took his time and worked with these kids and their parents to provide a positive experience for the young athletes. Beckley coached second-grade boys’ teams and fifth-grade girls’ teams. Brent attended the University of Montana in Missoula, MT. Beckley studied Financial Management and received his B.A. in 2002. When he’s not doing pro bono work, Brent Beckley likes to read, cook, hunt, fish, go camping, play golf, and spend time with his family and friends. Beckley was the recipient of the D.J. Schultz Scholarship Award and maintained the award for 10 consecutive semesters. Brent Beckley also received the Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s fraternity service and academics scholarship. He earned the title of Man of the Year by the same fraternity in 2002. Beckley finds personal meaning in a quote by one of the U.S. founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin: “He that would live in peace and at ease, must not speak all he knows nor judge all he sees.” Mr. Beckley lives in Canada.
