Howell High School and the Drama Parents Organization will hold a special send-off concert to support and cheer their very own Miss New Jersey, Amy Polumbo, as she prepares to compete for the title of Miss America.

Amy Polumbo, a Performing Arts major at Wagner College on Staten Island, was crowned 2007’s Miss New Jersey in June of this year. As the winner of the coveted title, the 23-year-old college student has maturely dealt with the constant media attention and the increasing demands on her time, successfully juggling interviews and public appearances, as well as her studies. A drama student, Amy Polumbo’s passion is the theatre. She has already participated in over 50 theatrical performances throughout New Jersey and New York, and her career goal is to perform on Broadway. She has already made significant headway, acting or starring in shows with community theatres, Wagner College, and professional companies. One of the major highlights of her acting career was when she took a leave of absence from Wagner to star in Walt Disney’s Voyage of the Little Mermaid at MGM Studios in Florida. She has also performed live on television as The Sound of Music’s Maria for Cabaret for Life, and her emotionally charged singing and acting performance of “Astonishing” from the Broadway hit Little Women so impressed the judges of the Miss New Jersey pageant that she won the title.

Miss New Jersey, Amy Polumbo joined i-SAFE to raise awareness about victimization of children on the Internet.

Miss New Jersey Amy Polumbo, Lil' Miss New Jersey, the Cycle Kings and Buffalo Soldiers motorcycle clubs, representatives of the Capital City Girls basketball champions, community organizations, and numerous school groups participated in Trenton, New Jersey's Thanksgiving Parade.

Amy Polumbo may have been crowned Miss New Jersey, but she’s more than just a pretty face. The twenty-two-year-old from Howell, New Jersey, is a senior at Wagner University, where she is working toward a major in theater and a minor in psychology. Amazingly, the Miss New Jersey competition was only the second pageant Amy had ever participated in. She will go on to represent the Garden State in the Miss America competition.

Amy’s year-long Internet safety campaign with i-SAFE will include being featured in Public Service Announcements (PSA) for broadcast on radio and television stations nationwide, classroom visits in New Jersey, conducting i-SAFE Parent Programs and community events, and to represent i-SAFE in regional, state-wide, and national lobbying activities for Internet safety legislation.

Amy Polumbo, 2007’s Miss New Jersey, is a Drama student at Wagner College originally from Howell Township, New Jersey. Polumbo left the city to attend Wagner and took a break from her studies to star in Walt Disney World’s Production of The Voyage of The Little Mermaid at Dallies Theatre for MGM Studios. A noted vocalist, Amy Polumbo has appeared in multiple theatre productions, starred in a live television production, and appeared in print as the cover model for Parade Magazine.

Amy Polumbo, the reigning Miss New Jersey, is a young woman dedicated to protecting community values and perpetuating the rich tradition of the fine arts. A drama major at Wagner College, Amy Polumbo has starred in many collegiate productions, such as Swing! and Chess.

Crowned 2007-2008’s Miss New Jersey by the Miss America Organization, Amy Polumbo is an active student at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, where she majors in Drama.
